Pork Choppers first opened it's doors as a custom bike shop in Pompton Lakes, NJ in 1991. John (the owner and prototype machinist by trade) modified, designed and tailored each bike he built specifically for the customer. Down to the last detail, each bike was a "Custom Fit", even if it meant countless hours at swap meets looking for a pristine, white Le Pera seat or the perfect S.U. carb. You might have seen some of his work, several of his builds were featured in iron horse magazine during the mid 90's.
Since then, John has slowly phased himself out of the custom world and concentrated his efforts on top and bottom ends, transmissions and designing custom parts. Pork Choppers has relocated twice, gaining valuable space with each move.
The current location (8 Queen Anne Road, Bogota, NJ) has a large retail space. This now allows
Pork Choppers to offer a wide variety of parts, accessories, leather apparel, clothing and gift items to customers. Who knows, with Terri (John’s wife) running the retail, maybe... John will start building customs again. |
